Audio Professional Meets the Standards of The Rutland Hotel

The Rutland is a luxury 12 bedroom boutique hotel with restaurant, bar and exclusive nightclub. Located at 1-3 Rutland Street, Edinburgh, the hotel is positioned in one of the best locations in Edinburgh, at the fashionable West End of Princes Street between the main shopping area and the busy Financial District, with superb views of Edinburgh Castle.

The twelve individually designed guestrooms at The Rutland are the epitome of elegant glamour and each comes with the latest in-room technology and entertainment. Each bedroom is fitted with an Audica Professional MICROseries system, consisting of a MICROzone amplifier/controller with two MICROdot ceiling loudspeakers in the bedroom, a MICROdot in the bathroom and an Audica Professional WMR wall-mount remote in both rooms.  The WMR in the bedroom additionally has a 3.5mm jack socket for the connection of PC, MP3 player or similar personal media player.  There are also docks in the rooms for directly connecting an iPod.

The Rutland’s restaurant boasts the best views of Edinburgh Castle and its stunning interior offers a luxurious setting. The ambience is enhanced by Community CLOUD6 ceiling loudspeakers, powered by the new KIND KDX amplifiers. A similar system is also used in the bar, but with additional bass reinforcement from four Audica Professional MICROsub active subwoofers.

Situated in the basement is the hotel’s nightclub – The One Below. Inspired by the lounge clubbing style favoured in cities such as New York and Paris, One Below at The Rutland is as ‘luxe’ as it gets. Situated around the perimeter are twelve vaulted booths, each individually designed and decked out in sumptuous jewel colours. The sound system in the main body of the club consists of eighteen Audica Professional MICROline loudspeakers, driven by InOut DA-480 amplifiers and reinforced for low frequency by five Audica Professional MICROsubs.

The four VIP booths also have their own dedicated Audica Professional MICROseries system for guests to listen to their own choice of music, with a MICROzone amplifier/controller driving two MICROpoint on-wall loudspeakers. Like the guestroom facilities, visitors are provided with a WMR wall-mount remote control with 3.5mm jack socket providing input, source and level functions and additionally there is a dock for an iPod.

Completing the hotels approach to audio quality throughout, the main reception is installed with a pair of Audica Professional MICROdot ceiling loudspeakers. A Cloud Z8ii zone mixer is the hub of the system in public areas and each zone is fitted with a Cloud LM1 module for local source and volume control as well as the ability to connect additional local sources.

Style and quality were key aspects to the choice of loudspeakers at The Rutland. The ultra-compact on-wall MICROpoint and MICROline loudspeakers have discreet modern styling with unique integral fixing and the tiny MICROdot ceiling loudspeaker fits a standard mini-spotlight 85mm cut-out – yet all three offer well extended bandwidth down to 70Hz, critical for giving well-balanced sound when visitors are in close proximity to ‘satellite’ loudspeakers or when a system is needed to be full-range without subs.

The Audica Professional, Community, InOut and Kind products were supplied by UK distributor CUK Audio and the design and installation completed by Ayr-based Global Integrated Solutions.
